Kaycee McKenzie Mallery
Nov. 29, 1960 - Feb. 17, 2014
Resident of Morgan Hill
After a courageous and hard-fought 2½ year battle with ovarian cancer, Kaycee McKenzie Mallery, 53, passed away peacefully Feb. 17 at her home, surrounded by her beloved husband and family.
Kaycee lived her life with grace, passion and beauty. Friends and family say that life was better for having known and loved Kaycee. She had a wonderful laugh, twinkling blue eyes and a giving, creative and inspirational spirit. She left her mark, brightly, loudly and boldly everywhere she went, everywhere she worked and through everyone she touched.
She was born in Tucson and majored in fashion merchandising, earning a degree from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. She started her career at I. Magnin as a special events manager, moving on to be marketing director of the Macerich Company. She then struck out on her own as a corporate event planner specializing in highly stylized events.
Kaycee was also very active in the community, including Leadership California; Leadership Contra Costa; past president of the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce; United Way Silicon Valley Women Leading Change; and eWomenNetwork. She also volunteered for Cancer CAREPoint and was passionate about ovarian cancer awareness.
Kaycee is survived by the love of her life for 10 years, Doug Mallery; mother, Carolyn Edwards of Martinez; father, Kenneth Edwards, and his wife, Marilyn, of Pine Grove; and sister, Connie Lauderdale of Lacey, Wash.
A memorial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at the Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey St., Morgan Hill. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Order of the Eastern Star or Hospice of the Valley.
