Louis William Breitenbach
March 26, 1939 ~ March 1, 2013
Resident of Saratoga
Louis William "Bill" Breitenbach passed away on March 1 surrounded by his loving family. He was 73. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bill graduated from St. Xavier High School and The Ohio State University, where he earned his bachelors and dental degrees. After graduating, Bill enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Augsburg, Germany. It was there that he met and married his wife, Marykay Maginniss. In 1968 they were transferred to Ft. Ord in Monterey, CA where they resided for two years. When released from the Army, Bill began practicing dentistry in Sunnyvale, and he and Marykay settled in Saratoga where they have lived in the same home for 43 years. Bill loved his work as a dentist and found joy in the meaningful relationships he developed with his many patients. After a rewarding career, he sold his dental practice and retired in 2011. Bill greatly enjoyed his Saratoga community and could often be found spending time at the local coffee shop, the Brookside Club, and local sporting events. Bill was an avid sports fan, both watching and playing, and fond of classical music. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew him, for he was a delight to be around and was always available for intellectual conversation, political debate, and the sharing of humorous stories. With an authentic and humble disposition, Bill was an inspirational father, a supportive husband, and a loyal friend. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Saratoga on Saturday, March 9, at 1:30 p.m., with a reception to follow. A private burial service will be held at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga. He is survived by his loving wife Marykay, four children Patrick (Kattya), Katie Enevoldson (Jason), Beth, and David, four grandchildren Elvis, Liam, Eden, and Astrid, and siblings Joe and Marge, both of Cincinnati. His absence will also be felt by his faithful poodle companion Schatze. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saratoga High School Foundation, 20300 Herriman Avenue, Saratoga, CA 95070.
