Resident of San Jose
Lydia died peacefully surrounded by family after a seven year battle with breast cancer
. She was born Lydia Blaszczyk in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Joseph and Albertine Blaszczyk. Lydia is survived by her husband, Dan; daughter, Josette Summersett and husband Tyler; son, Paul Belarmino; mother, Albertine Blaszczyk; sister, Martine Buntman; and granddaughters, Solay and Sable Summersett. She is also survived by her niece Jacqueline Gomez and husband Brian; nephew Wesley Buntman; and numerous relatives in France. She was pre-deceased by her father, Joseph Blaszczyk.
Lydia was self-employed as a medical transcriptionist for over 25 years. Working out of the home allowed her to double as a stay-at-home mom for her precious kids. Her passion as a child that carried into her adulthood was always athletics. She was an accomplished competitive swimmer, an avid snow and water skier, tennis player, runner, and especially as an adult, a softball player. She was equally supportive of the athletic activities of her husband and kids with both children continuing to love sports as adults. She also loved designing and landscaping her home on two acres in South San Jose. Her gazebo is a landmark on her hill that can be seen from Highway 101. She was a devoted pet lover and famous for her many rescues of homeless kittens. She especially bonded with her beloved fat cat "Barry Bonds."
She was and will always be a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend and will be missed forever.
At Lydia's request, a private family service will be held.
