Raymond H. Kreiss

Raymond H. Kreiss
Nov 12, 1923—Sept. 21, 2013
Resident of San Jose
Ray was born in San Jose and raised in San Carlos.  His fondest memories were of his early school years, his Boy Scout Troop 153, the San Carlos Athletic Club, and Sequoia High School. He served in the Army in World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War.  For 48 years he worked in management positions at Pacific Telephone (AT&T).  He married his beloved Carolyn Langford Clarke in 1978.  They lived most of the following years in Mtn. View.  Ray is survived by his wife, three sons, a daughter, and seven grandchildren.
In his retirement Ray enjoyed being a docent at Filoli and part time work at Orchard Supply Hardware, Svle. He was travel chairman for SIRS Branch 62, Svle., and was also active in SIRS 114 after he and Carolyn moved to The Villages in San Jose.  Carolyn and Ray traveled the world while they were "still upright," visiting all continents and countless countries.  At home Ray liked to meditate in his garden and cut bouquets of flowers for friends and for Carolyn's bridge groups.  Ray moved through his 89 years making acquaintances out of strangers, and friends out of acquaintances.
"For the few buddies left in life, I'll be waiting for you."
A graveside service has been held and a remembrance gathering at The Villages is planned for Nov. 2.  Donations to The Villages Medical Auxiliary (VMA) (408) 238-4230 would be appreciated.
