Robert Edward Jeffers
May 3, 1925 - March 4, 2014
Resident of Cupertino
After a lengthy illness, Robert Edward Jeffers passed away Tuesday, at home and with family present. Bob had a way of making all around him feel special. He will be greatly missed.
Robert was born into a large family in Buffalo, New York. Upon graduation from South Park High School, he served in the U.S. Navy
aboard the destroyer USS Black. After World War II, Robert lived in New Mexico and Buffalo, marrying in 1950. Together, he and wife Ann began a large family of their own as he earned a degree in Physics from the University of Buffalo. He began a nearly 30 year association with Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. in 1959, and as a Design Engineer, was especially proud of his contribution to the Hubble Space Telescope. Bob lived his last 54 years in the same Cupertino home, and looked after his family with great joy. Whether it was scouting, little league, camp fire girls, father-daughter dancing, camping, bowling or golf, his leadership was caring and compassionate and patient. Robert was an active member of the Catholic Church, and a long time member of the Serra Club of Santa Clara. He took much delight in working in his garden, and continued to do so as long as he was able. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Robert is survived by Ann, his loving wife for 63 years; devoted children Barbara Walloch (Patrick), Robert Jeffers Jr. (Maureen), Michael Jeffers (Patricia), Kathleen Quick (Daniel), David Jeffers, and Christopher Jeffers (Courtney); brothers Richard Jeffers and Theodore Jeffers (Alice), and sister Jean Bolander (Ronald); grandchildren Jennifer Allen (Nyamekey), Stephen Walloch, Daniel Walloch, Amy Walloch, Brigid Jeffers, Andrew Jeffers (Brooke), Molly Jeffers, Ellen Jeffers, Erin Stratton (Jack), Katherine Jeffers, Joshua Quick (Jennifer), Rebecca Quick, Troy Quick, and Matthew Jeffers; great-grandchildren Coleman Allen, and Loralei Quick.
