Takeshi Okumura passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long battle with gastric cancer. He fought hard until the very end and was happy to see his family in his last days. Takeshi was born in Osaka, Japan and moved to California in 1955 to continue his studies abroad. He graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Business Administration where he met the love of his life, Hanae Tamekuni. Takeshi and Hanae married in 1957 and had 4 children together.
Takeshi worked many jobs through college and started his career at PO Orient Lines. He was a lifelong banker working for various banks in the bay area. During that time he attended and graduated from the University of Washington's Pacific Coast Banking School. In 1992, he took a job on the Big Island of Hawaii and then retired there. Takeshi was always reading and had a knack for knowing the latest facts and figures on various topics. He was also a passionate golfer and enjoyed many rounds on some of the most beautiful courses in Hawaii.
Takeshi is survived by his wife Hanae, children Nancy (Kevin Foley), Ken (Donna), Curtis, Victor (Stacey) and grandchildren, Erin, Derek, Lyndsie, Stephanie, Samantha, Sydney, Haley, Kimiko and Miya, and sister Yasuko Handa (Nobuyuki). He is predeceased by his parents Kiyoshi and Nobue and daughter-in-law Angela. Private services have already been held.
