Thomas was born in San Mateo, CA. and passed away at his home in San Jose, CA. He spent his childhood in Oakland before moving to San Jose, where he graduated from Campbell High School. Following high school, Tom attended San Jose State University, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Geography. He continued his education by attending the University of Washington and Stanford University. During that time Tom also served in the United States Air Force Reserves for 11 years with a great sense of duty and service. Following his time in college, Tom began working at Santa Clara County Department of Planning and Development. He worked as a planner for 28 years until his retirement in 1993. During his free time, Tom was an avid classical music enthusiast and regularly attended classical music events around the Bay Area. His love of music also involved participation in the World Festival Choir, where in 1990 he performed with the choir, under the direction of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and Luciano Pavarotti in Verona, Italy. Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lynn Dora Christy; his son Patrick and wife Christina, son Nicholas Quezada and daughter Kaitlyn of Gig Harbor, WA, Son Steven and wife Desiree, son, Gregg Baker, daughters Allison Baker and Lyndsey of San Jose, daughter Melinda Mitchell of Red Bluff; cousin Fred Wolf and cousin Hazel Clark Deming, Prescott, AZ. A Memorial Service will be held on Sat, 2:00pm, Dec. 28, 2013 at Almaden Hills United Methodist Church, 1200 Blossom Hill Rd. San Jose.
