Resident of San Jose
Born in Pettus, TX and a long time resident of San Jose. He passed away peacefully after a long illness on March 31, 2013 at the V.A. Hospital, Menlo Park. He leaves behind his beloved wife Concepcion of 66 yrs., 6 children, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. A Navy veteran of World War Two, he served on the USS San Francisco in the Pacific where he was in 15 major engagements including the Night Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. In May of each year he attended a gathering of old Navy and Marine Veterans of the USS San Francisco at Land's End Memorial in remembrance of those who died in this epic battle. He worked as a roofer for 40 years and retired from Rush Roofing Company, His love of music from a young age would lead him to become not only a member in a local music grp. of Tex/Mex. genre, but also a recognized composer. Visitation will be held on Monday, 4/8 from 5-8PM. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 4/9 at 11:30AM. All Services at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. in Santa Clara. Interment to follow in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family is suggesting donations be made in Valentine's name to the VA Hospice Unit 360 F. 795 Willow Rd, Menlo Park, Ca. 94025 or to the USS San Francisco Memorial Foundation, 401 Van Ness Ave., Rm. 123, San Francisco, Ca. 94102
