Walter (Walt) George Englert, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 85.
Born in Seattle, WA the son of Walter George Englert, Sr. and Adele Louise Englert, Walt graduated from Seattle Preparatory School in Seattle, WA and St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA. He married Isobel Anne O'Hearne on August 18, 1951 at Corpus Christi Church in Piedmont, CA. He and his wife Isobel lived in Pleasant Hill, CA and Oakland, CA before relocating to San Carlos, CA in 1958. Walt began his career with Cutter Laboratories in Berkeley, CA and also worked in the lab at the Avon refinery in Martinez, CA. Upon moving to San Carlos, Walt decided to follow more entrepreneurial pursuits, including starting his own business consulting company.
Walt is survived by his wife of 61 years Isobel, his sister Patricia, his seven children Walter (Mary), James, Catherine (Robert), Barbara, Patricia, John (Jamie) and Paul (Maresa), fourteen grandchildren Francesca (Aaron), Molly, Daniel, Patrick, Stephen, Hailey, Heidi, Nicholas, Cameron, Noah, Brody, Lilah, Samuel and Luke, and one great-grandchild Charlotte.
Walt will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his faith, for driving his family on annual vacations to Stinson Beach, his beautiful rose garden, his love of fishing, his fondness for tinkering with things, his appreciation of classical music and his uncanny knack of making sure everyone frequently checked the oil level and tire pressure on their cars.
A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday, July 31 from 6-8PM with Rosary at 7PM at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel in Belmont. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Charles Church in San Carlos on Thursday, August 1 at 10AM and Walt will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Los Altos. Sign the guestbook at
