Frank J. Ruiz

Frank J. Ruiz 2/19/1921 – 6/25/2008 Born and raised in Santa Clara, passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughter, caregiver and loving wife of 24 years, Mary Ann. Frank previously married in 1942 to Isabel Acevedo, who passed away in 1978, are the parents of daughter Carol (Jack) Sinwald and son Ron (Diane) Ruiz (deceased 1999), both of San Jose. Frank was a grandfather of 5, great-grandfather of 5, and uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Mary Menacho, 97, of Sunnyvale. His devoted caregiver of 7 years, Cynthia Cabanayan, can also be counted as part of the family who will miss him greatly. A WWII veteran with the 84th Infantry in Germany, Frank was a POW for 5 months, before returning home to become a cabinet maker for 25 years at the PM Company, and another 19 years as a school custodian for the Santa Clara Unified School District, from which he retired in 1987. Frank enjoyed volunteering, as a member of the YMI and ICF groups of St. Clare's Parish. He loved traveling around the country, attending the summer reunions of his Army unit, the Railsplitters. He and wife Mary Ann, took many trips over the years, enjoyed great times with family and friends, and just loved working on projects at home. Vigil Sunday 6/29/2008 at 7PM (visitation 6 – 8) Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. Funeral Mass Monday 6/30 at 11AM St. Clare Catholic Church, 941 Lexington St., Santa Clara. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to St. Clare Parish or a charity of your choice.
