Virginia H. Travis passed away on February 19, 2011 at Westside Eldery Care in Los Banos, California after a short battle with cancer.

She was surrounded by her family and went peacefully to go home and be with the lord. Virginia was born in Gustine, California. She attended school in Gustine and was in the Class of 1945. Virginia was employed in the 1950's at Walters Photo Studio located in Turlock. Later in those years she moved to San Jose and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service from 1965 to 1991 until her retirement. Virginia loved people and was very devoted to her sisters and brother and their families. Though she did not have children of her own, her nieces and nephews became her children and she was very loving and generous too them.

Her passions and hobbies in life were traveling, crocheting, cooking and socializing with cherished friends and family. Of the greatest highlights from these hobbies were two dream trips one was to the birth place of her parents the Azores Islands and to Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore. After retirement her sole passion became helping others, especially her elderly friends with doctor appointments, shopping and other daily activies. She never said "no" when anyone needed her, even putting their needs before her own.When she moved back to Gustine in 2007, Virginia was a member of The Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles and Our Lady of Miracles Society in Gustine, California.

She is survived by her sisters, Elsie Silva (Edwin) of Aptos, Ca and Dolores Rosamond of Gustine. Nieces Joanne and Linda Travis of Modesto, Carol Goudy (Jeff) of Gustine. Nephews Robert Silva of San Ramon, Ca, Raymond Silva of Dallas, TX Patrick Rosamond (Martha) of Magalia, CA. Grand Nieces, Stephanie and LeAnn Baker, Ashley Silva. Grand Nephews, Anthony and Nathan Silva, Anthony and Jonathon Rosamond. Also 2 great grand nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank M. Travis, Jr. and three sisters, Francesca C. Travis, Mary C. Inacio and Adeline M. Travis.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, February 25th followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Gustine. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday, February 26th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.
