Rosalie Bailey Obituary

Rosalie Bailey (nee Pusateri, McCliman)

Resident of San Jose

Mar. 2, 1919 - Dec.26, 2010

Rosalie was a native of San Jose for most of her 91 years. She was born on Vine Street in the Italian immigrant neighborhood of "Goosetown" to Ignazio and Anna Pusateri (both deceased). Her siblings included a brother Frank (fought in World War II, now deceased), sister Rosalia (deceased), brother Santo (died in action during World War II), brother Salvador (deceased), and brother Joseph all of San Jose.

Throughout her entire life, Rosalie remained loyal to her Italian heritage. Among her most favored activities were large family gatherings where her Southern Italian cuisine always took center stage. Rosalie's considerable culinary skills never failed to amaze and delight all. Anyone visiting Rosalie, whether family or stranger (soon to be friend), was treated to her many and varied culinary specialties. However, as often as not, she would be found doting on her family. She was also a long time member of the Italian Catholic Federation.

Rosalie married Lloyd McCliman (deceased), another San Jose native, with whom she bore two children-Marilyn Lewis (deceased) and Richard McCliman. She married her second husband Robert Bailey (deceased) in the late 1980's. Rosalie is survived by four grandchildren (Teri Mathews, Robert Lewis, Kimberly Schwenke, and Michelle McCliman), and seven great grandchildren.

Final arrangements are under the direction of Lima Family Erickson Funeral Home in San Jose. Friends and family are invited to a memorial Mass on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1576 Curtner Avenue in San Jose. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery, 490 Lincoln Street in Santa Clara.

To the Pusateri, McCliman and Lewis families: Prayers to you all during this difficult time. We are grateful that she is no longer in pain and that she was fortunate enough to have such a long, rewarding life on earth. In a world of increasing selfishness and vanity, she had all of the right priorities-- her family, her faith, her Italian heritage, and her legendary cooking.

We will long remember our visits with her. She always made us feel welcome, prepared a wonderful meal for us and treated us like family.
Heartfelt condolences to Rose's family from Eloisa Martinez and family.
