Ronald E. Schmidt Sr., PhD

Resident of San Jose

Ronald E. Schmidt, a Senior Engineer for Lockheed Martin, died Monday, Sept. 20th, 2010 after a long battle with diabetes and cancer. He has been a resident of San Jose for 13 years and has been working for Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale. He transferred out from Philadelphia suburbs with his wife Dorothy. Ronald is the son of the late Anna Margaret Dahmer and Raymond Joseph Schmidt Sr. of New Orleans, L.A.

Born on October 7th, 1944 in New Orleans, LA, Ron spent the entirety of his young life in New Orleans until after graduating with his Masters from University of New Orleans in 1966. Married in June 18th, 1966, Ron and his wife Dorothy moved to Lubbock Texas so he could complete his doctorate at Texas Tech. Then they moved to the New Orleans suburbs before moving onto the Philadelphia suburbs to work for General Electric Aerospace division. Ronald and his family spend the next 22 years in Pennsylvania working for the same division through a few company name changes. In 1997 he accepted the transfer with Lockheed Martin out to California when he worked until retiring for his medical reasons.

just heard about Ron's passing. We worked together in Valley Forge, and both transferred to Sunnyvale at about the same time. Ron was a genuinely nice guy, one of the nicest people I've worked with. He'll truly be missed. So sad to learn of his death.

I worked with Ron during all of his years at King of Prussia. I also had the opportunity to meet with him & Dottie during a few of my trips to the San Francisco area. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met! I am truly saddened hearing about Ron's passing.

Ron was my mentor way back in 1983 when I joined GE in Valley Forge. I remember him fondly- very intelligent, very patient, very helpful, always smiling. Ron was a great role model and I'm saddened to hear of his passing.

Thank you for giving us a wonderful son to complement our family. Ken has been a wonderful husband and father to Miss and Zoe Olivia. He could only have grown up to be such a loving and caring man by the lessons he learned from having a great Dad.
May you rest in peace Ron.
