Juan Morano Obituary
Juan ?John? Maya Morano, resident of San Jose, passed away in peaceful dignity at the Regional Medical Center of San Jose. Survivor of the infamous Bataan Death March, he showed resilience, determination and grace til the very end fighting Parkinson?s disease complicated by hypertension, renal failure, and pneumonia. Born in Sta.Cruz, Zambales,Philippines, he enlisted in the US Army where he was a military engineer,retired in 1972 as 1st Lt.Received his BSBA from the College of Notre Dame, Belmont. He was a member of the American Legion Post 714, Knights of Columbus, Military Officers Assoc.,AUSA,DAV, and VFW,the Sampaguita Seniors Club, a founder and president of the Eastside Neighborhood Seniors Club; was a Board member of the FILCOM of Santa Clara Cty, and the Maharlika Lion?s Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Conchita Quintero Morano and brothers Lorenzo,Remigio and Luis Morano. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years Rebecca Quintero Palos Morano; devoted children, Gloria Morano Miranda ,(Flo D. Miranda), Juan Morano Jr, (Evelyn Valdez) of San Diego and Josephine Morano Alvaro (Ray) of San Jose; grandchildren Esther Miranda Halverson (Lee) of Danville, Lisa M. Donovan and Eric Miranda of San Jose, Robert Morano of Australia and John Morano of San Diego. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Miranda Kaile Halverson and Zachary Lee Halverson. Also survived by esteemed nephews Orcino and Tony Morano and niece Vina Rosal. He will be missed by all who knew him for his gentle manner and generous loving spirit. Family and friends are invited to a vistation, Tuesday Jan.4 from 3PM-9PM. Vigil Service at 7PM at Darling-Fischer Garden Chapel,471 E.Santa Clara St. Celebration Mass at St.Francis of Assisi Catholic Church,5111 San Felipe Rd,San Jose followed by Internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery,22555 Cristo Rey Rd,Los Altos.
