Apolonia Mendoza Obituary

Apolonia Mendoza

Resident of Stockton

1-5-1911 12-8-2010

Apolonia Mendoza entered into rest on Dec. 8, 2010, at home, surrounded by her children. She was a beautiful person - fair, strong, loving and witty. A remarkable woman, she quickly charmed all she met with her elegance and warmth. A true matriarch in every way. With an extraordinary memory and a big heart, she never failed to personally acknowledge with a hand written greeting card, every birthday, anniversary or special event in her large family.

At 99, Pola still loved winning on her regular trips to the local casinos or at a good poker game. She enjoyed watching her beloved Giants, the evening novelas, dishing a little gossip and most of all her pride and joy, her family. The centerpiece for 5 generations of family, her example set the standard which they follow to this day.

Blessed with many friends as well, her love never distinguished between the two. She radiated genuine warmth, had an ever-present smile and a mischievous laugh. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, of 69 years and her son Gene. Pola made a lasting impact on all she touched and will be missed forever.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 14 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at LIMA FAMILY SANTA CLARA MORTUARY, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. Santa Clara. Funeral will be Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 9:00 a.m. at the mortuary thence to OUR LADY of PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH for a 10:00 a.m. mass followed by burial at Santa Clara Cemetery.

Tia Pola

Whenever you entered a room it was as if God had sent one of his angels to walk amongst us. I know we must find away to move on without you for God has seen it fit to call one of his most precious of angels home. You were one of the most beloved people on this earth. To know you was truly to love you.

I’d like to thank all my cousins for allowing us (the Lara family) to love my beautiful Tia as if she was our second mom. Alice, Mello, Helen, my wife Susie and I shall always be grateful.

We are truly blessed to be related to such a wonderful and caring family.
