To the entire Garcea and extended families, my sincere condolences. I’m a friend and classmate of Donnas’ son Greg, who I’ve actually known since early grade school. Having spent a good amount of time with Greg means that I also spent time with Pat and Donna. Donna was strong willed yet had a very calming way about her. Instead of getting angry with Greg, she’d just roll her eyes and sigh. Always upbeat and approaching the glass as more than half full.

I’m not sure if she ever knew my first name as she always referred to me as “Stan”, which is very close to my last name Stenn. I’m sure she picked it up from Gregey (as she often called him) as he vaulted out the garage door muttering “I’m going to see Stenn.” Having lost my Mother 2 years ago, I know how difficult this can be. It’s that feeling of being alone. But you’re not alone. You’ve always got friends and family to talk with and to share lots of memories with. Besides I don’t think Donna would appreciate anyone feeling sorry for her nor themselves. Much like Donnas’ journey, we are all here for what feels like a brief moment in time, and the older I get the more I’ve come to realize it. You just keep putting one foot in front of the other just as Donna did all her life. May God bless you all.

Dear children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Donna Garcea,
Although I met Mrs Garcea when I visited my friend, Leona, many years ago, I did not really get to know her. But, as I read the beautiful obituary describing how she faced the difficulties and hardships in her young and elder life with courage and quiet determination, I felt pride that my friend Leona had been privileged to have such a good mother. Thank you for describing her life. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren have a wonderful role model to appreciate and imitate. My prayers are with your family.

Mom, you were a true lady, always kind, neatly dressed and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it, especially our family. You were not a complainer and just did what needed to be done. No matter how tough life was at times, you were always there for me. I will love you forever.
