A loving, vibrant and peaceful soul left us suddenly on Monday, December 20, 2010. He was 49 years old.

Born March 7, 1961, George was a proud father to his precious sons Joseph (Brenda) and Michael Espinola, loving Avo to his grandson, Jericho and cherished son to Alice Simons Espinola. He is survived by his siblings Doug (Christin), John (Theresa), Joanne, Janet and Steve Espinola, his in-laws Priscilla Baza, Frank Morcillas, Francois Monet (Ava), Michael (Heather) and John Paul (Monica) Morcillas. and his wife Edith Morcillas Espinola. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Alana Marie and his father George James Espinola, Sr.

George is a graduate of Santa Clara HS (1979) and Cal Poly, SLO (1984). A successful architect for 30 years, he derived great joy in helping his clients' dreams come true. George is most proud of the home designed for his brother in Los Gatos. He is a scholar on architects Frank Lloyd Wright, Frank Wolfe and Charles McKenzie. He won the California Pioneers Award for Outstanding Writing of California History in 1990 and continued this passion by publishing "Cottages, Flats, Buildings and Bungalows. If this is the same George, (aka-Porky, as he was known by us US Naval airdales from Whidbey Is, WA in the early 70's ), he was a very great man. A soul as big as a carrier at least. Really liked this man. Always hoped he'd followed his old cars and rodder's dream. a friend always

The gods were kind enough to give me George as a roomate in our first year at Cal Poly. We spent our entire studies rooming together: learning to cook, reading the same books, expanding our musical horizons, sharing our successes and failures, philosophizing and speculating on what kind of architects we might later become.... and just laughing and enjoying being young. I ended up in Europe and wasn´t able to see George as much as I´ve wanted to in the last years, but he was always present in my heart.

George is probably the kindest, fairest soul I´ve ever known and I´ve always treasured his love and friendship and the chance I had to grow into adulthood with him. I will miss him hugely and it breaks my heart to think that he is no longer on this earth.

I mourn together with you, all of George´s family and friends, and wish you peace.

My heart is torn with the news of his crossing over, he left too soon. I remember George from the days of looking for old cars and found an old Chysler in San Carlos for him. I remember how I thought his love of really old cars was very cool, he always wore big sweaters a definite throw back to the 50's we had good times at Habitec. You will NEVER be out of my heart.

I am so shocked and sad to hear of your loss. George has been so helpful to me over the years as I've done research on Frank Delos Wolfe and I was looking forward to more collaboration. I cannot believe he is gone. What a terrible loss, not only to his family, but to our community.

I still can't believe this is real.
George is one of my dearest friends.
There is not a day that goes by that I'm not reminded of him. A song, a symbol, a saying, a view, a house.
You taught me DIGNITY George. You taught me so much. You will be a part of me the rest of the days of my life, friend.
I love you

To the Espinosa family, I am deeply saddened by your loss. I met George as a boy on frequent visits to my Aunt Rose's house, playing together with my closest cousins David and Dorlinda. Aunt Rose always took us over to visit the Espinosa's, and eventually, David, George and I played basketball in Dave's driveway, sometimes allowing Dorlinda to play. The Espinosa family holds a special place in my heart and I will always cherish the memories I have of George and the entire family. RIP my friend, I guess God needed a great Architect for something special. Your old friend, Del

I am saddened to hear the loss of George. I grew up with George and my best friend, his brother Steve. Mr. & Mrs. "S" were my second family and the many dinners and family events I was included will always be cherished as some of the best days of my life. The world has lost a special person.

I remember George as a sweet and attentive 7 year olf in my catechism class at St. Clares Catholic Church.
He grew up in the same manner, a real gentleman with a sincere gentle spirit.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones. He will be greatly missed , his passing was way to soon.
Sincerely, Bonnie

I am terribly sorry for your loss of George. He was truly one of a kind. George had a huge heart and was one of the kindest, most intelligent persons I've had the privilege of knowing. I'll cherish my times with him at Cal Poly- all the music, art, architecture, basketball, great food, and of course LAUGHTER!

May he live in peace, and God bless you and your family.
