Yeah, Pat Balf!
I've known Pat since I was a mere, meek 14 years old at Saratoga High School! Pat was always a TOUGH guy, but helped a lot people & had a kind heart!
I saw him after many years at the '69 SHS Reunion at Garrod's - he was a talkative, mellow guy as I recall!
I am deeply shocked to learn of his passing! Last I heard from Pat he was starting UP his Harley in Sataoga speeding away with a friend on the back of his bike!, and talking about how much $ and love he put into his bike! Pat will always be remembered as a COOL, TOUGH guy who enjoyed life!

I had worked with Pat back in the early 90's at RMC Lonestar in Santa Clara. Pat was always easly to talk to and was quick to smile. It seemed like we would have a good laugh or two daily. 6 Months ago Pat came by Bode to visit after many of not seeing him. It was like no time had past since the last time we talked. RIP PAT

Over the last few weeks I had been thinking daily about Patrick J Balfe wondering how he was doing since at the last SHS reunion at the Foothill Club this summer he DID NOT look good at all. I sent him an email on Dec 2nd and then found out yesterday from Jeff Berg that he had died on Feb 30th 2010.
Since the summer reunion I had been checking in on him more frequently . At that time I sat down with him and asked about how he felt and what was up since he looked so ashen. He did not let on that he had cancer.
Pat was a jokester and sometimes a spoiler during our early SHS 1970'tease dazes. At the 2009 SHS reunion up at Garrod's in Saratoga he demonstrated to me what a great person he turned out to be.
From quite homes and first beginning,
Out to undiscovered ends,
Theses nothing worth the wear of winning,
But laughter and the love of friends.
See you soon buddy........

Pat - You were always smiling, and seemed to add a quick chuckle to any conversation. I am so saddened to hear of your passing over...I envied your many talents and skills. A great drinkin' bud. Love to you.

Hey Pat,
I remember when you worked in the gas station in downtown Saratoga. I think it was where the hotel is now. I pulled in about 3-4 years after high school and saw you working there. I remember you coming out and saying hi to me. You showed me that you had an incredible sense of humor. I looked at you with new respect after that. Quick witted and so funny. You made the world a comfortable place. Thanks, Pat.

Pat, It was always fun to see you at our reunions and catch up on life. Living across the street from you all those years, we never talked often but that was ok; you always had a kind word. And I'm sure my dad loved showing you his front yard garden!
You'll be missed.

When we spoke early on the Sunday before Thankgiving as I approached Gilroy fromthe south on the 101 and you declined a visit because you were feeling so lousy, I knew we had spoken for the last time. I'll miss you Pat.
You were the first kid I met when my family arrived in Saratoga in 1961 and we hung out together on and off that summer.
Thanks for being the person you were Pat.
I never felt judged by you even though I've done plenty of judging in my time. How did you manage that? One of your gifts, no doubt. You had lots of good energy, enthusiasm and honesty Pat. I'll remember those qualities you personified when I find myself lacking in them in the time remaining.
Goodbye brother.

Pat, I was just a kid growing up in Saratoga when you/my sisters knew each other. I remember your days as a volunteer fire fighter as my Dad was.
In my mind, you were a kind and gentle person and your legacy will live on!

Pat,
I won't ever forget that wicked smile and laugh!
From the first visits with my aunt Shirley and all my cousins living next door to you and your family, through your apartment in Santa Cruz, to your connecting and marrying my cousin and her long lost love, you were a constant. I miss yours being the first Christmas card, even though you never got my last name right!
Thanks for the smiles all along the way.
Too soon my friend, too soon.

Damn you Pat - who's going to cut down my tree!!! You will be missed my friend; it just seems like the other day we were IM tagging over yahoo. If there was ever a constant in my life it was knowing that I would continue to run into you! I will cherish these past few years that we were able to continue that friendship.

Dear Kathy,
Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Patrick came to a mini reunion I had a few years ago for people from Saratoga Gardens. It was so good to see him after all those years. May you feel God's presence and comfort through your grief.
