James Barton Obituary

James Gibson Barton
March 27, 1946 - September 21, 2012
Aptos, California
James (Jim) to most and (Gib) to family and close friends passed away at his home on Friday, September 21st.
Jim was born in San Jose, graduated from James Lick HS in 1964 and attended Miss. State University. Jim went into the Military (US Army) in 1967 and completed his tour in Viet Nam in 1968 with the Signal core. Jim worked with some of the early pioneers in IC layout design working for many notable Silicon Valley companies over a 35 year career until his retirement from Flextronics in 2008. Jim loved traveling to Hawaii with his soul mate, so in his honor bring out your best Hawaiian shirt. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial service on October 1st, 1pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home, 300 Curtner Ave. San Jose, CA at the Chapel of Roses. In lieu of flowers please make a charitable donation to the Disabled American Veterans in Jim's honor.

the highlights of summertime in Mississippi was Barton family coming home. Everyone looked forward to fun times! I was a girl but Gib and Steve did nothing with me tagging alone! From fishing to shooting BB guns we made lots of memories. Blessings on all of you and bless Gib with rest. Faye Gibson Fulgham

It's been many, many years since Gib and I worked together at Electronic Arrays. While moving from company to company, we lost track of each other, but I thought of him now and then while reminiscing about those crazy days, long hours, wild lunches and silly jokes. Farewell, my friend, safe journey, and aloha nui loa...

It's hard to believe it's been 46 years since I got my first credit card at the Chevron station. In those days, we had to let you "fill 'er up"; my old Corvette only ran with the "white pump" and we only afford a dollar or two. I think you made the recommendation to apply for a Chevron credit card, which I still carry! Maybe some day, when we meet again, you, Steve and I can reminisce about our old Corvettes. R.I.P old friend.

I will certainly miss you as my confidant and my very best friend. I am so grateful that we were able to stay connected during the 43 years since we met. Camping in the motorhome at Seacliff just will not be the same. Your illness brought me so much sadness but I was happy to be there for you when you needed me. I will never forget the infuence you had on my life and all the memories we shared.

Dear Barton Family,
I am saddened to hear of Gibby's death. I was unaware that he was ill. Lots of happy memories of our time together in high school and after, come to mind. Gibby was a charmer and a real southern gentleman. I always valued his friendship. He left an imprint on my heart and I will always think of him with a smile. My deepest sympathy to the Barton Family. Jan xx

Gib, it's with great sorrow to learn of your passing, but reading about you brought back great memories of you and your family while growing up on Cedar Lane. You were a big part of my youth, Thank You. I can see you now at your Dad's "Heaven" Chevron washing your Stingray and pumping gas.
R.I.P. old friend.
