John Quinn Obituary

John "Jack" Quinn Jan. 13, 1920 - Jan. 25, 2013 Resident of Los Altos Jack Quinn was born in Paris, Illinois in 1920. Jack's professional history includes Announcer/Engineer at RCA Hollywood Recording Studios, The Wilshire Bowl, KPHO (Phoenix), KJBS (San Francisco) and CBS Inter- national Short-Wave (Delano). He was Technical Operations Manager, RFE (Munich), VP, Holman Corporation (Rockford, IL), Marketing Consultant, Varian EIMAC Power Grip Tube Division (San Carlos), Consultant, Varian Associates, International Broadcasting Consultant for RFE/RL and the IBB, Voice of America. Jack was a City Council Member and Police Commissioner in Delano, a Fellow in the Radio Club of America, a Hoover Institution Archives Contributor, Author of many technical & political articles and member of the Broadcast Legends. Jack had many hobbies-computers, amateur radio (W6MZ & EI2MC, Ireland), jewelry making and traveling worldwide. Jack was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Kelly Quinn, actress, radio announcer, member also of the Broadcast Legends. He is survived by his son John C. Quinn of Lakeside, CA, daughter Terri Q. Carville of Los Altos and son-in-law Gary Carville, grandson Chris Fagnani and his wife Michelle, great-granddaughter Nicole Fagnani, grand-daughter Stephanie Nielsen and husband Kevin, and great-grandsons Jake and Shane Nielsen, all of Discovery Bay. Jack will be long remembered for his intelligence, wit, love of life, zany sense of humor, perfectionism and his love and devotion to his family. A Memorial Service will be held on February 8, 2013, 2:00 at Menlo Presbyterian Church in Menlo Park. Donations may be made to Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. in Menlo Park.
