April 17, 1915 - June 14, 2013
Resident of Milpitas
Joseph Mannina, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Milpitas on June 14, 2013 at the age of 98.
He was born in Chicago, IL to Phillip and Marianna Mannina on April 17, 1915. He graduated from Mission High School in San Francisco in 1931 at the age of 16.
At 18 he joined the CCC Camp (California Conservation Corp). He spoke many times of his love for the outdoors and the work he did with this group.
A distinguished 33 year career in the Air Force included duties in WWII and the Korean War. He was honored with the Distinguished Flying Cross and many other commendations for his service.
He joined Bank of America in 1945 and had a long and successful career until his retirement in 1970. He loved golf and he loved to swim.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 63 years Elisa "Peaches" Mannina in 2003. He is survived by his son Joe and his wife Bonny, daughter Margie Gresham and her husband Lowell, brothers Angelo and Ralph Mannina, sister Virginia Sawyer, three grandchildren, Melissa, Michael and Becky and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 1:30 PM at Oak Hill Funeral Home's Chapel of Roses, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, Ca 95125.
