Mary Giacalone Obituary
Mary Anne Wright Giacalone
Resident of Gilroy
Passed away peacefully on August 23, 2012 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Mary Anne was born to Alfred and Thelma Wright on August 18, 1941 in San Diego, CA. In 1945, Mary Anne moved with her family to San Jose, CA and attended St. Leo's grammar school. Upon graduating from St. Leo's, she attended Notre Dame High School in San Jose and college of Notre Dame, Belmont where she met Anthony Thomas Giacalone her devoted husband of 49 years. Mary Anne was a devoted mother to four children, Anthony Joseph Giacalone, Vincent Robert Giacalone, Lisa Ann Giacalone-Burns, and Paul Stephen Giacalone and two daughter-in-laws, Lisa Perales Giacalone and Jaime Vatuone Giacalone. Mary Anne was the proud grandmother to 8 grandchildren, the lights of her life; Vincent Giacalone, Katie Burns, Marcello Giacalone, Michael Burns, Vanessa Giacalone, Anthony Burns, Nalecia Hauser and Dominic Giacalone. She was also sister-in-law, aunt and best friend to many others.
In addition to raising her children, Mary Anne worked in real estate for over 15 years and spent her recent years as a dedicated yard duty supervisor at St. Mary's School. She was known as "Nana" to all of the kids. The family is extremely grateful to all who helped care for her over the past few months.
A Vigil will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 - 7:00 PM at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, August 29, 2012 - 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Gilroy. Reception to follow.

To the Giacalone Family,
I attended St.Leo's with Mary Anne "Wright" from 1953-1955, and I will always remember her as being the sweetest girl in the class.

Seeing Mary Anne at the many events at St. Mary School was always a joy. She always had a smile on her face and a hug for everyone. I will remember her fondly and have her family close in my thoughts.

You touched each of our lives, MaryAnne, and I am grateful to have had the chance to work with you, to know you and enjoy your passion for your grandchildren.
