Richard Arago Obituary

Richard Michael Arago June 11, 1954 - Nov. 27, 2013 Resident of Pacifica Rich Arago passed peacefully on Wednesday after battling cancer. A native of San Francisco, Rich grew up in the Crocker Amazon district and graduated from Balboa high school. During his youth - the late 60s and early 70s - he attended numerous concerts at the Fillmore and Winterland, which influenced his love of music. He met the love of his life, Donna, at the age of 20 and they married in August 1978. Rich was a member of IBEW 1245 and worked for PG&E for the last 33 years. An avid bowler and fortunate video poker player, he enjoyed having a good time surrounded by his family and friends. Rich was a passionate sports fan for his home teams - the Giants and 49ers. He took pride in being able to personally attend major moments such as "The Catch". Rich was an animal lover and would go out of way to care for any living creature big or small. Rich is survived by his wife Donna of 35 years, daughter Angela (Frederick) Poli, daughter Nicole (Brandon) Canas, son Anthony Arago, father Richard Arago, brother Gary Arago, brother Mike Arago, father-in-law Kenneth Smith, brother-in-law Kenny Smith, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother Sonia Arago and mother-in-law Dolores Smith. He was a devoted father, husband, son, brother and a friend to all. Services will be held on Saturday, December 7th, at 11am at Duggan's Serra Mortuary (500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City). A reception to celebrate his life will follow. In lieu of flowers, Rich requested that donations be made to your local animal shelter. Duggan's Serra Mortuary (650) 756-4500

Donna, Angela, Nicole and Anthony
We are so saddened by this great loss of dear Rich. Your prayers are with you at this sad time.
Rich was one of the best friends anyone could have. He will be missed greatly.

He was a person everbody would ask about whenever there was an event "Is Rich going to be there" It won't be the same without him. I know his bowling buddy's and co-workers, must feel the same as me. I considered him more as a brother than a friend. He was the hardest working man I knew and enjoyed his recreation time as well, and wanted his family to enjoy there time together. he loved his family. You could see the love when you see them together.
Rich was a childhood and lifelong friend. I will never forget all the great times we had going to the conserts at The Fillmore, Winterland, cruisin Mission st. and Elcamino when we started driving. The Christmas party's at his and Donna's first place.
hanging out at Balboa. All the good times hanging out over Joe's, playing pool and cards, the street lined with Monte Carlos. Rich being the first to buy one. Then those several hunting trips and fishing trips out to the Farallon islands, all the kids birthday partys for years and the great times with our family's at the ranch, horseback riding and chilling at the pool.
He was a usher in my wedding party and I was a usher in his and Donna's wedding. As the years passed we always remained friends...
He had told me about 2 months ago, how pleased he is that Angela and Nicole had married good men, that would take care of them. I'm going to miss him at my brother Gary's annual BBQ coming through the gate towing his cooler with that big smile on his face, happy to see his long time friends and not one hair out of place.
God be with you my brother.....till we meet again.. You'll alway's be in our hearts
Carl Nancy and Jim Holsher .

I am so saddened to say farewell to my childhood friend. I have nothing but great memory's of Rich. cruising along Mission and ElCamino in this 60 chevy. Hanging out over Joe's with all our Monte Carlos parked out front. Rich being the first to buy one. We went to many concert's at the fillmore and winterland several hunting trips as well as fishing trips to the farallon Islands and camping. He was a usher in my wedding party and I was a usher in his.
It was fun going to the ranch riding horses and hanging out at the pool with our family's. All those kids Birthday party's. He is one true friend I can honestly say, I don't recall ever having a argument with. He was a person, a dear friend, everybody wanted to be around. For every gathering other friends would always say " Is Rich going to be there" I know his bowling buddy's and co-workers had to feel the same. He was a working man, that's for sure. He had to of broke the Guinness book of world records, for the man that worked the most overtime. At least that I knew. There is nothing he liked better than providing for this family. He worked hard and enjoyed his recreation time too. he lived life to the fullest and wanted this for his family as well. He was a loving husband to Donna for all 35 short years. A loving father to his girls, Angela and Nicole and his son Anthony. You could feel the love when you saw the family together. He told me 2 months ago. How proud he is that his girls married good men, who would take care of them. Rich's friendship to me was more like a loving brother. I'll always remember that big smile. I'm going to miss him at those BBQ's dragging that cooler with a smile and not one hair out of place. We'll forever love him.
he had a fightin year may he rest now.......

Rich was a funny guy. And he was cool. We bowled together at Castle Lanes. We used to make this honking noise called "The Walrus." Everyone had nothing but good things to say about him. R.I.P. my friend.

I was fortunate enough to grow up around the corner from Rich. We went to grade school and jr. high together. We parted ways in high school, him going to Balboa and me going to ICA. Funny how life is, many years later, we ended up working together out of the same service center at PG&E. I had the pleasure of working with Rich for the last 24 years at PG&E. Rich was a special person. His love for animals was apparent. He was always there to lend an ear or a hand to a friend or a co-worker. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. RIP Rich, until we meet again. God Bless you all.

What can I say except Rich will truly be missed by all who knew him. I was fortunate to have grown up around the corner from Rich, attended grade school, and middle school with him and then our paths crossed again 24 years ago at PG&E. We ended up working at the same service center. Rich was such a kind person and had a love for animals beyond reproach. He was always available to lend an ear or offer help to his friends and co-workers.

My prayers and thoughts go out to his family during this difficult time. May God Bless you all.

RIP Rich. Gone too soon.

Donna, I remember the first day you introduced me to Rich. He was madly in love with you and wanted to build a wonderful family together with you. God allowed Rich to live his dream with the true love of his life. He was a proud father to Angela, Nichole & Anthony and he brought joy, love and happiness to all who were blessed to meet him and call him family or friend. Rich will always be in my heart and he will be truly missed.
