Carl W. Craven

Former San Jose resident

Age 90 of Grants Pass passed away November 17, 2010 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.

Private interment: Oak Hill Memorial Park San Jose, CA.

He was born on March 30, 1920 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Harvey and Minnie Craven. Carl started work for IBM in 1941. While working for IBM WWII broke out and he began serving in the United States Marine Corps from August 3, 1942 until he received his honorable discharge on April 3, 1946. Carl married Claribel "Bonnie" Darmstadt in 1943, she preceded him in death. In 1956 they moved to San Jose, CA from Endicott, New York where he continued working as a purchasing manager for IBM until his retirement in 1975. In 1977 he started working as a real-estate agent in the San Jose area until his retirement in 2004. Carl married Emma Rees in 1979 in San Jose, she survives. Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was a member of Willow Glen United Methodist Church. For many years Carl was the IBM Quarter Century Club President and was a member of the Kiwanis and Mason civic organizations in San Jose.

Survivors include his wife Emma Craven of Santa Cruz, California and his son Donald Craven of Grants Pass, Oregon.

To the Craven family, sorry for your loss, may GOD give you his LOVE, PEACE, and STRENGTH in this time of sorrow, i thank him for serving his country and keep our country SAFE & FREE, he will always be a HERO to all. He is at rest now with GOD and he is in HEAVEN where GOD promisses all who BELIEVE IN GOD will spend eternity with him, and that there body will never feel pain again. He is RESTING IN PEACE with the best person any of us can rest with JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. <3
