Entered into rest on July 10, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Carl was married for 60 years to the love of his life Joane, who passed away in 2007. Devoted father to Robert Hendren and his wife Kendra; son Kevin Hendren; daughter Marion Campisi and her husband Jim. Proud grandfather to Ashley Campisi, Kelly Campisi, Jessie Hendren and Grant Hendren; Loving uncle to Michelle Wenger.
Carl was born on September 16, 1922 in Gravette, Arkansas to Asa & Gerzilda Hendren. His family moved West in 1937 and settled in Salinas. Carl is a decorated veteran of World War II, entering the Army Air Force in 1943 as an aerial engineer and pilot. Carl served 30 months overseas in New Caladonia, Guadalcanal, and New Guinea with the 22nd Aircraft Squadron. Carl and Joane raised their family in Monterey and San Jose until they retired to the Town of Isleton on the Sacramento Delta in 1987. Continuing his lifelong commitment to public service, Carl served as the town Mayor and Chief Building Inspector during their time in Isleton. He and Joane returned to San Jose in 2006 where he resided until his death.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on July 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher's Church, 1576 Curtner Ave., San Jose. Private family internment San Carlos Catholic Cemetary, Monterey.
