Chung Hee Ko Obituary
Chung Hee Ko
October 5, 1932 - May 21, 2013
Resident of San Jose
Chung Hee Ko is remembered by her family as a strong and loving, mother and sister. She endured and provided support and care for her family during many hard times. She grew up in Korea during the Japanese occupation and the Korean War. She married Dr. Young Jin Ko who was a successful physician. Her husband died at a young age leaving her in Korea with three children. With high hopes for her children she took a leap of faith and immigrated to the United States. Once in the U.S. she supported her children through grade school and college. She was extremely proud of the successes of her children whom she sacrificed for.
After Chung Hee's retirement she continued an active life. She was a member of the Korean Baptist Church of San Jose. She loved to travel with her friends from church.
In her seventies she took up traditional Korean brush painting and produced beautiful works of art. She will also be remembered as an excellent cook; we will all miss her seaweed soup, Korean pancakes and sea bass soup along with many other favorites.
She was survived by sons Han and Christopher, daughter Susan and grandchildren Justin, David, Nathan, Sarah, Sydney, Bethany and Edward. Services will be held at the Korean Baptist Church of San Jose at 1056 Pinewood Dr., San Jose, CA 95129 on Thursday May 23rd, 2013.
