Craig Uyeda Obituary

Craig "Stovie" Uyeda

Resident of Los Altos

Died peacefully on August 8, 2010 at Mills Peninsula Hospital, Burlingame after a brief illness.

He is the beloved son of Lance D. and Susie Y. Uyeda, of Los Altos, CA. He is survived by his siblings, Shelley Uyeda Smith of San Jose and brother-in-law, Jonathan Smith, Scott Uyeda of Sunnyvale, Lauren Uyeda of Sunnyvale, brother-in-law, Grant Hirano, and Uncle of Carson Smith and Kaya Hirano.

Craig was a sports fan, and earned a living selling sports memorabilia. Many notable athletes were on a first name basis with Craig. His enthusiasm for sports will be missed by friends and family alike.

Craig was born on August 19, 1970 in Mountain View, CA and grew up in Los Altos, CA. He attended Montclaire Elementary School, Cupertino Middle School, Homestead High, and De Anza College. Craig was well-known for his candor and wicked sense of humor. If he liked you, he was your friend for life.

Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 4:15 P.M. at CAMDEN COMMUNITY CENTER, 3369 Union Avenue in San Jose. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his honor to the Stroke Awareness Foundation c/o Health Trust, 2105 S. Bascom Ave., Suite 220 Campbell, CA 95008. Dear Uyeda family, It just came to my attention that Craig passed away over the summer. I didn't know Craig well but I grew up in the neighborhood, went to Montclair and Homestead a few years ahead of him, and our families knew one another a little. I'm still in shock over this. At one time, you were one of my most trusted friends and while we haven't been as close recently, you've always been in the back of my mind as a source of some great and fond memories. To The Uyeda Family,
We came to know Craig through Fred and always had fun with him. He was a great supporter of the coaching crew at Menlo College. He was fun, funny and just loved to live life. We had some great meals with him at the various restaurants he managed and we will miss those times dearly. To the Uyeda family,
Sorry for your loss. Growing up with Craig in Los Altos certainly was not boring. Craig would always come to the local school to participate in whatever sport we might be playing. He had a really good sense of humor.. Lead it to Craig to get us in trouble. There are some priceless memories involving Craig growing up that i will never forget. Very sorry to hear about the loss of Craig Uyeda he worked for us for a brief time helping file reports for our radio station. Craig was dedicated and loved doing photography of professional sports. His work was true major market journalism level quality. What a talent he spoke several languages fluently and ran a restaurant at that same time.Thanks Craig for all your work and wise advice.
