Resident of Los Altos Hills
77, passed away at home on October 21, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 5, 1933 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and attended elementary school and high school in Waupun, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Marquette University, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Don and family moved to Los Altos in 1969. He founded Westport Instruments Inc, a manufacturers' representative firm for scientific instruments, specfically the Scanning Electron Microscope. His customers in the Silicon Valley included many of the valley's leading semiconductor and life sciences companies.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Jo; children Steve (Michelle), Mary Becker Kesler (Mike), Dan (Lara), Jeff (Karen), Jean, and Tom (Kristin); and 12 grandchildren- Christopher, Mike, A.J. Becker, Emily and Aaron Kesler, William, Matt, Joe and Sam Becker, Clare and Sean Becker and Colin Pappas, along with countless friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
A Rosary Vigil will be held on Thursday, October 28, at 7 P.M. at Spangler's Mortuary in Los Altos. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Nicholas Church Los Altos at 10 A.M. on Friday October 29. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 4850 Union Avenue, San Jose, CA 95124.
