Seven years ago today, my grandpa, an astute, clever and remarkable man, lost his battle to renal cell cancer. He instilled in me the values of family, education, commitment, perseverance, achievement, respect, & discipline (among others). He fought his cancer until the day he died and remained remarkably composed and positive along the way. Whenever things get tough, I think of him. Gpa, I'm missing you every day. You'll always be a part of "our team"!! xo

Remembering Don - the oldest among my 9 Bryant cousins - what a SPECIAL cousin to me - I admired and loved him! He quietly exuded smart rationality with a big heart, a ready smile and was always there with his wonderful wife, Bev.

A role model for me from the time of my 1964 college graduation, when I ventured forth to the Bay Area, until his death in 2006, I remember his wisdom about life ("you never feel older, it's just that you have less energy")and Don and Bev's "blessing" my "special" boyfriend, Bob. Bob and I adopted them as surrogate parents - and grandparents to Christie!

Here are some of his very positive attributes that I remember (in no special order):
. Problem solver/scientific/rational
. Planner, organizer, communicator
. Hands-on, balanced, somewhat reserved
. Fair, approachable, wise, learned
. Family and home was EVERYTHING to him

Above all, he was always eager to learn or accept new things in his life - right up until he fought his invasive cancer with a new form of radiation by coming with Bev to Staten Island and braving new medical procedures which gave him extra years of life. His profound legacy is that he taught us all to prize and emulate his values!

Dear Don,

What a wonderful man. What a wonderful life. Most of the credit you would give to your wife. Three beautiful children with hearts made of gold. You would ask for no credit if the story was told. I miss you, Don.

Love, Randy

P.S. I would like to be like you if I ever get old.

Daddy, it's been a year since you passed. In some ways it feels like a long time ago and in other ways it feels like just yesterday. But I think of you each and every day. I see your face in my children, your love in Mom's eyes, and remember your tremendous strength when I'm struggling with decisions. God Bless you always. I miss you now and will love you forever. Your daughter, Sue

I can't believe that it's been a year since you passed away, Grandpa. I miss you a lot and whenever I see a painting I remember going to your house and seeing all those great paintings that you painted. I also remember always going into your office and drawing pictures and now when I go in there I remember you.

Hey Gpa!

"Happy" One Year Anniversary. I hope you are doing wonderfully. We all miss you very dearly down here. And although I know you are in a better place, I still wish you were here. I cannot believe it has been a year ~ I cannot even describe how I'm feeling right now. I just want to let you know how much I love you and miss you (as warm tears come to my eyes). I know you are looking down on our family and guiding us through our lives.

Thank you for everything Gpa!

With Love - Always,

Michael Louis

G-pa...I have been thinking about you a lot lately! You are definitely missed by all of the family and thought of every day. As time goes on, I find that your "words of wisdom," positive attitude, and love for the family has an increasingly large impact on my life decisions - You have and always will be a positive mentor in my life. I often find myself thinking about how you would respond in situations and what advise you would give! Although I miss our Subway lunches, I know you are always there for me and helping me through life each day. I love you so much and miss you always!!

Don was the most amazing man I ever knew (he could do anything because of his Mid West work ethic). He was like a second father to me & helped me grow from a boy to a man. His influence on me was profound & without him in my life I would have certainly struggled. I'm eternally grateful to the Weller's & love all my memories of all the wonderful moments we shared together. I love you Don & will always be there for your family... may you rest in peace.

I miss you so much Grandpa, but I am grateful that you are finally at peace. I have always thought of you as a most perfect person, and it has been important to me to make you proud. Thank you for everything and all of the love that you have contributed to our family. Thank you for being such a strong person (and providing us with these "extra" years, which were so important to all of us). I will always keep you in my heart and in my thoughts, and I know you are in Heaven watching over me (and the rest of the family). I love you Grandpa always and forever.

With love and appreciation,

Michael Louis

I remember how many times you have helped me. For example, when you came to my house or I went over to your house. Now that you're in heaven, I know that you can help me at any time.

I love you, Grandpa. Love, Aaron

I have so many wonderful memories of my Dad, which bring me great comfort at this time. Judging from the numerous phone calls and messages that our family has received since he passed on, it is evident that many other people also have beautiful memories. Dad was so strong, talented, set a great example for everyone, and was ALWAYS there for me and our family. May he rest in peace in light and love and in God's loving embrace.

I will forever miss you and love you, Daddy! Sue
