Doris Shrade

Resident of San Jose

Passed away peacefully on Aug. 29 in Elk Grove, CA at 88. She was the youngest of 4 children born in Sheldon, ND to Julius & Helga Nessett. She moved to Oakland, CA as a young woman where she met Frank. They were married 4 months later on Apr. 22, 1950. They were married 52 yrs. until Frank's death in 2002.

Doris was an active member of the Lutheran Church her entire life, was a devoted wife & mother and had a strong but gentle faith. She raised four daughters in a loving Christian home. Doris lived with Rheumatoid arthritis for over 40 yrs., defeated breast cancer, survived cardiac by-pass surgery and several major strokes and through it all never complained or lost her faith or her enthusiasm for life.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Norman & Herald Nessett and her sister, Jane Wiltse.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Loudon (Colusa, CA), Kristin Westphal (Elk Grove, CA), Julie Hoke (Beaverton, OR), and Gretchen Hargrave (Kirkland, WA), their husbands, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Remembrances can be made in Doris's name to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Arthritis Foundation.

A memorial service will be held on Sat., Sept. 25 at 1:00 pm at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 8701 Elk Grove Florin Rd., Elk Grove, CA (916-689-7300) with a reception to follow.
