Duncan B. Ross
Current resident of New Port Richey, FL.
1959-2008 resident of Sunnyvale and Aptos, CA.
Age 69, died October 25th, 2010, in New Port Richey, Florida. Duncan was a 1959 graduate of Libertyville-Fremont High School, Illinois, where he was a co-captain of the undefeated football team of 1959. Also, he was on the track team and wrestled at LFHS. He was graduated from Stanford University where he received an athletic scholarship, and, loving the California weather and culture, became a California transplant. At Stanford he was a member of ATO fraternity, played football, and lettered twice in wrestling.
Duncan was employed as an industrial engineer at Owens Corning Corporation and Nuclear Chicago, both Silicon Valley companies. Later, he sold computers for Digital Equipment Corporation, a Massachusetts-based company with branches in Silicon Valley. In the late 70's and all through the 80's, he worked first as a sales manager and then as training manager for Intel Corporation. After retiring from Intel in the early 90's, Duncan became a real estate broker.
Duncan's hobbies and pastimes included snow skiing, water skiing, sailing, traveling, playing bridge, attending Stanford football games, and spending time with his friends and family. In the past 10 years, he and his wife have spent a great deal of time in Florida where they enjoyed many cruises in the Caribbean, driving their pontoon boat, Elan, attending greyhound races, cooking dinners for friends and family, playing cards, and in general, enjoying life. He was a loving, generous and patient father.
Duncan was married to Clayta Morand Ross. He has two children, Blake and Heather, and three grandchildren: Evan, Bethany, and April, all living in California. Duncan's sister, Shirley (Dale) Weaver, lives in Libertyville, and his brother Rob (Sherry) Ross, lives in New Port Richey, Florida.
There will be a service celebrating Duncan's life in Redwood City, California at the Sequoia Yacht Club, 441 Seaport Ct. (650) 361-9472 on December 11th, 10am-2pm.
