Elizabeth Phillips Obituary

Elizabeth Louise Phillips

Resident of Millbrae

Elizabeth was born on February 26, 1922 to Marshall and Ann Shields. She grew up in Meridian, California with a panoramic view of the Sutter Buttes and loved those mountains. Following graduation from Sutter High, she attended Yuba Junior College and UC Berkeley where she pledged Zeta Tau Alpha. She earned a degree in History and her teaching credential. While both were teaching high school in Crockett, she met Ora Phillips and they married in 1949. They settled in Millbrae in 1956 and she lived in the Meadows the rest of her life.

She was active in the Capuchino Band Boosters, Millbrae Methodist Church, Millbrae Senior Center, and raising her four children. Elizabeth died at home on December 18, 2010. She will be remembered for her smiles and gentle ways.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ora, and son, Allan. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Benintendi, sons Robert (Kim) and Mark (Cindy), granddaughters, Etta, Grace, Allyn, and Claire, and grandsons Jeremy, Kyle, and Jack, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Marcella Hardy and Roberta McCoy, and sister-in-law, Margaret Phillips.

A celebration of her life will be held January 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the New Vision United Methodist Church, 450 Chadbourne Ave., Millbrae.
