Florentino S. Somera

Resident of Mountain View

Oct. 13, 1912 - Oct. 1, 2010

Florentino was the beloved husband of 62 years of Emilia Somera; loving father of the late Jay Somera; dear brother of Avelina Sana of San Jose, and Eugenia Somera of the Philippines. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. A native of Cabugao, Philippines, age 97 years and a member of the U.S. Army WWII. He was a Psychiatric Technician at the VA Hospital in Menlo Park, and at El Camino Hospital where he was known as "Chief." He was one of the first Psychiatric Technicians at El Camino Hospital in the 1950's.

Florentino was a founding member of the Cabugao Association of Northern California (CANCA), and a member of American Legion Diosdado M. Franco Post 714.

Visitation will be on Weds., Oct. 6, 2010 from 12:00-9:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 W. El Camino Real, Mtn. View. Funeral Mass will be on Thurs., Oct. 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Mtn. View. Entombment will be at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto.
