Florio Cappelletti

A resident of Los Altos

Florio Cappelletti, 1912-2010 a loved father, grandfather and a most charming, respected,and spirited man has left us to be with his wife Caroline, of 67 years. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on November 26, 2010 at his home in Redwood Villa, Mountain View. Prior he had been a resident of Los Altos for 50 years.

Florio had an extraordinary life and loved to share his stories with everyone. Born in Chiasso, Switzerland he was very active in bicycle racing. Not only did he ride, he designed andbuilt bicycles named "The Florio". He arrived with his wife and two children in San Francisco on January 1, 1949. Moving to Mtn. View in 1951 he and Caroline founded Julia Convalescent Hospital, and later Redwood Villa Retirement Residence. Never retiring, he had a passion for his work and came to his office every day until recently. One of his many joys was starting every day with a 7 a.m. phone call from his niece in Switzerland. His presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to be family, friend or acquaintance. Florio was loved by all. He is survived by his children Jeanne (Lee) Swanson and John (Bessie) Cappelletti, 6 granchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, Dec.5 from 1-4 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 4 P.M. at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 El Camino Real . W. Mtn.View.

A private funeral mass will be held on Monday. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to American Cancer Society.Please view/sign guestbook at cusimanocolonial.com.
