Resident of Los Gatos
Gary passed away unexpectedly at his home in Los Gatos on Sunday. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Susan, his sons Christopher (Dene') and Jason (Karen), his grandsons Spencer and Griffin, and his older brother Dennis.
Gary's childhood was spent in Willow Glen, Saratoga, and Los Gatos where he graduated from Los Gatos High School in 1960. Gary received his Bachelor of Arts degree in business from San Jose State in 1964.
Gary was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Artillery, serving as a Forward Observer in Vietnam where he received two Bronze Stars.
Upon returning from Vietnam, Gary became a successful local businessman and owner of the Rural Sportsman and Los Gatos Hardware in Los Gatos. After his retirement in 2008 he volunteered his time with Live Oak Senior Nutrition Center, traveled with his family and friends, and spent time enjoying his family and garden.
Private family services with military honors will be held on Friday, May 10. A celebration of Gary's life is being planned by his family.
