Gayle Wisecup Obituary

Gayle Norene (Bruce) Wisecup

Resident of Lincoln

Passed away peacefully on September 7, 2010 at Alta Manor Assisted Living in Roseville, CA after a lengthy battle with cancer.

The retired United Airlines Maintenance Manuals Specialist, and 48 year Millbrae resident relocated to Del Webb Sun City in Lincoln, CA in 2001 where she and her late husband thoroughly enjoyed the fun residential resort living with all of their wonderful new friends. As a resident of Millbrae, Gayle attended Taylor Middle School as well as Capuchino High School. It was in her teenage years that she met the love of her life, and husband of 53 years, Sherold (Jerry) Wisecup who passed away in November of 2009. While her primary "occupation" was housewife and mother, she worked part time at the Millbrae Pancake House for many years. In 1978 she landed her dream job at United Airlines which led her to wonderful travel destinations with husband Jerry, and best friend Fay Bracken of Burlingame along with her late husband, Harvey.

Gayle was the youngest daughter born to John and Julia (LeBlonde) Bruce originally from McDonald, PA; and then in the late 1940's her family relocated to Millbrae. Born on November 17, 1937 she looked up to her older sister, Emma Jean (Bruce) Aurand, who predeceased her in 1997. Gayle is survived by her two children; daughter Debbie and son-in-law Dave Van Wart of Millbrae, and son Tim Wisecup of Sacramento. Gayle was extremely proud of her two Grandchildren; Granddaughter Jessica Selva (deceased) of Clearlake, and Grandson Hank Van Wart of Millbrae. Gayle is also survived by her sister-in-law, Etta (Mauderly) Wisecup of Raymond, Iowa, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews from various cities in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Oregon and California.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lasilla Funeral Chapel on Monday, September 20th at 11:00 a.m. in Lincoln, CA. In lieu of flowers , the family appreciates donations to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

Gayle was such a dear neighbor. She was so vital, enthusiastic and cheerful. She and Jerry had many friends and were a couple to be emulated - so loving and devoted to each other. She fought a tough battle with cancer but never gave up. We miss both of them because they were a team.
