Gemma Louise Franzino

Resident of San Jose

Dec. 9, 1922- Nov. 25, 2010

Gemma, a native of San Jose, attended Peter Burnett Elementary School and was a graduate of Norte Dame High School, San Jose Ca. Gemma and her husband, Albert, owned and operated the Italian Cellar restaurant, currently the Fallon House, in downtown San Jose from 1949 to 1962. Along side her husband, they built & ran a family catering business until they both retired.

Gemma loved to golf and travel, often combing the two, with her loving and devoted husband of nearly 68 years Albert. Together they would sit and watch golf and cooking shows and enjoy the company of family.

Gemma lost her brief battle with cancer surrounded by her children on Nov. 25, 2010. She was preceded in her passing by her son Donald Franzino. Gemma is survived by her loving and devoted husband Albert and by her children, Steve of Redwood City, Diane and her husband Steve Park of San Jose, and Chuck and his wife Maria of Modesto. Gemma was a loving grandmother to Shane, Angela (Aaron), Anthony (Amy), Aaron (Nancy), Robyn (Ellias), Nicholas (Monique), Danielle (Jason), and Kristin (Clint) all of San Jose. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Tyler, Noah, Nathan, Jason, Jackson, Ryan, Jameson, Andrew, Gabrielle and Emily. She will forever be loved and missed. Her legacy is the gift of a close & loving family.

A private celebration of Gemma's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 4850 Union Ave., San Jose, CA 95124, in recognition and support to the wonderful people who gave compassionate care to Gemma.

To the most amazing Grandma that a lady could have. She and our Papa Al have played such profound roles in our lives and I will think about her everyday for the rest of my life. I miss her and cherish every memory that I have of her. She and Papa have showed us how to love, honor and cherish unconditionally and have instilled in us what it takes to make a successful marriage and family. Throughout my life, she will continue to be a role model. I am so blessed to have called her Grandma and I am so thankful for all the wonderful years we shared together. May God continue to bless her and Papa....with all my love.

To the most amazing Grandma and role model that a lady could have. My Grandma Gemma was such a great person. She and our Papa taught us how to love, care and respect each other and were the best examples of what a successful marriage entailed. We are all so empty with out her in our lives but I truly cherish the times and memories that I have with her. When I am old and gray and look back on my life, she will be a constant figure for me to learn from. I will think about her everyday and her profound influence on my life for the rest of it. I look forward to seeing her one day again in Heaven. I am also so thankful to have had her in my life and as my Grandmother. May God continue to Bless her and our dear Papa. We all love you both so much.

To the Franzino family, sorry for your loss, may GOD give you his LOVE, PEACE, and STRENGTH in this time of sorrow. She will always be in your heart <3 even though you no longer will see her she will be in your mind and all you have to do is close your eyes and you will see her smile. Give yourself time to heal and you take one day at a time. And one day you will be able to say her name, member memmories with out falling apart, and it's ok to fall apart because that's how we heal we allow ourselves sorrow. And you let family and friends help you heal. May she R.I.P :)
