Harold McNabb Obituary

Harold Douglas McNabb

Resident of Sunnyvale

Aug. 9, 1920-Aug. 25, 2010

Loving father and husband, Doug was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada where he was an exceptional athlete, excelling in running, curling, and golf. The youngest of three children, Doug served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII as a Night Fighter Pilot. Doug and his Brother in Law founded the first Curling Club in the Western US in 1958, the still thriving San Francisco Curling Club. For this, and for being Runner Up in the 1961 Nationals (the best showing California has ever made), Doug is known as the "Father of California Curling." Doug, his late wife Phyllis, and their two surviving children, Waid and Brenda McNabb, resided in Foster City for many years. He was a Salesman for Transo Envelope Company for 30 years. Doug and Phyllis moved to Vacaville, CA, then Sun Lakes, AZ in 1993. Doug's passion in later years was golf. In addition to Waid and Brenda, Doug is survived by Nancy McNabb (Daughter in law), and Grandsons Ryan and Sean Mauser, and Cameron McNabb. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Saratoga Prospect Center in Saratoga, Sunday September 26th at 1:30 PM.
