Isabel Strong Obituary
Resident of San Mateo
Passed away on September 8, 2010, with children by her side, following a car accident. She is survived by her three children, Susan Mary Greef and Maureen Prochaska of Berkeley, Jeffrey Strong Greef of Cupertino, Charles Henry and Caryn Greef and grandson Joseph Karl of Louisville, Colorado. She was the daughter of Isabella Landon Liecty and Henry Taft Strong of Massachusetts and sister of Charles Minot Strong (deceased), Sally Goodrich Straus and Rosamond Thaxter Halle, both of MA.
Born in Pittsfield, MA on June 5, 1930, Isabel moved to the Bay Area when she was twenty. She just celebrated her 80th birthday with family and friends. Ibby was a staunch advocate of liberal politics. She loved the earth and animals, especially her beloved dog Lucy. She also loved to sing and the music of J.S. Bach. She wanted us to always remember to recycle, and to "Ask first what this will do to the earth."

To Susan, Jeff and Chad: I'm so very sorry to have just learned of your mother's sudden passing. Losing our parents is never easy, but especially difficult when it comes without warning. I hope that your hearts have begun to find some peace and healing and that you will often recall the happy times. No one can ever take the place of our moms; they know us and love us as no one else ever could. Isabel was a good, kind, and decent woman as evidenced, at least in part, by her commitment to the well being of Mother Earth and her love of animals. In my book, that counts for a lot.
