Ivor John James, Jr.
Resident of Los Gatos
Aug. 21, 1921-Nov. 27, 2011
Ivor was a resident of The Terraces of Los Gatos. After a brief battle with Pneumonia and Diffuse Alveolar Damage Syndrome, Ivor passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose.
Ivor is survived by his loving wife Doreen and Sister Wenonah James. Devoted children: Ivor J. B. and wife Jacqi James, Donald and wife Lori James, and Douglas James and Maureen Turner. Grandchildren: Christine, Sarah and Kaylee. Niece, Wendy Howard, and nephew Bradford and wife Marsha Howard.
Ivor was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, son of Ivor and Charlotte James. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939 and the University Of Washington June 1943. Ivor went to work for the Union Oil Company in Southern California, and attended night school at Southwestern University Law School in Los Angeles. Ivor graduated with a law degree of "Juris Doctor cum Laude" in 1954 and passed the Bar exam in 1955.
In 1957 He went to work for General Electric Patent Department, and became head of the Patent Counsel Nuclear Group.
G.E. business trips, including 45 trips to Japan and extensively throughout Europe. He retired in 1987 and with Doreen continued their cruising travels.
Ivor and Doreen met at the Washington Athletic Club in 1933 at the ages of 10 and 12. They were married in 1946, for 65 wonderful, loving years.
As from Shakespeare "Good night, sweet prince; and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donation be made in Ivor's name to "Opera San Jose" 2149 Paragon Dr. San Jose Ca. 95131-1312
Services will be held at The Terraces of Los Gatos, 800 Blossom Hill Road, Los Gatos, on the 17th of December 2011, at 10:30am.

Dear James Family, I had the privilege of knowing and working with Ivor during much of my career at GE Nuclear Energy. He set a high standard of integrity and was a great source of knowledge, and counsel to all who worked with him. With deepest sympathy.

Dear James Family, Greg and I are so sorry for the loss of your Pops. We never had the pleasure of meeting him but from all the stories we've heard from Donald and Lori, he sounded like one heck of a gem to grace this planet.
