James Brennan Obituary

James Richard Brennan

Resident of Auburn, CA

Born in Dayton, Ohio, to Mae and Jack Brennan on February 22, 1930, died at 81 on April 26, 2011 in Auburn, CA following a series of medical complications and two weeks of hospice care. His beloved wife of 37 years, Glenda Faye Brennan, stayed by his side throughout his last weeks.

He is survived by his wife Faye, four daughters, two step sons, three grand-daughters, two grandsons, two great grandsons, a nephew and a niece. He was preceded in death by his brother Dan and nephew Terry.

After serving in the navy during the Korean conflict between 1948 and 1952 as radar man 3rd class on the USS LSMR 515, Jim met and married Virginia Rickey in 1953 with whom he raised his daughters. He married Faye Hickson in 1974, expanding his life and his family.

His successful career in marketing for national defense began in Ohio with Sylvania and took him through four states with his family to California in 1967. Jim and Faye spent their retirement years in Tucson, AZ and Rockin, CA where they participated in church communities that enriched their lives.

He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a universal awareness of life that was refreshing and filled with curiosity and humor. He played the ukelele and guitar, loved to whistle jazz tunes and did an amazing Donald Duck imitation! He was a gifted athlete and loved to fish, ski, and golf. He loved to share time with his family and friends. He had it all.

A memorial celebration will be held at the Livermore Campus of the Cornerstone Fellowship church at 348 North Canyons Parkway in Livermore, CA, at noon on Monday, May 23. The family requests that donations be made in his name to Make-a-Wish Foundation or to the nonprofit of your choosing.

I remember Jim fondly as an aggressive member of our marketing team at ATI -- which, of course, explains Faye! He was good to everyone around him, which I shall always remember.

I knew Jim through my Dad, Bill Marvin.
Jim was always a pleasure to be around and one of my Dad's best friends.
Rest in peace, Jim.
