Jean Anthony Obituary

Jean Anthony

Resident of San Carlos

The eldest of three children, Jean was born in San Francisco on November 14, 1919 and passed away on her late husband's birthday, July 7th, at the age of 92.

Jean graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1942 and married her true love and best friend Gordon, after meeting him at the wedding of her cousin and his brother, in 1943. Making their home in San Carlos for 65 years, they raised their family of three children and enjoyed the company of many life-long friends, often across the table for a friendly game of bridge.

Jean was the daughter of William R. and Williamita B. Callow. She was the beloved wife of the late Gordon Anthony and a wonderful mother to Bruce Anthony, Jan Mazzetta and Lori Hindenach. Jean is survived by her two brothers, Charlie and Merrill Callow; her children and their spouses: Teresa Anthony, Jay Mazzetta and John Hindenach; her six grandchildren: Trevor, Tyler and Heather Anthony, Jason Mazzetta (wife Keara), Julia Mazzetta Clauson (husband Damien) and Kevin Hindenach; as well as three great grandchildren: Vera, Keller and August Mazzetta. As the family matriarch, Aunt Jean is also survived by countless nieces and nephews. Known for her sweet smile and loving personality, Jean will be greatly missed.

No doubt she entered the pearly gates of heaven singing "Happy Birthday" to her husband, who probably responded, "This is the best present I could ever imagine, but what took you so long?" After being apart 14 months (since Gordon's passing on Easter Sunday 2011), this "perfect couple" will now celebrate their 69 years of marriage together.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 4, at 11 a.m. at Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Road, Redwood City, CA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a in memory of Jean Anthony.
