She was born in Los Angeles,Calif to Regina and Theodore Wallace. She graduated Porterville High and married Paul English. They had one daughter, Linda Lei. They later divorced. Jean married Justin Davis Orr and they had one daughter, Teri Regina. Jean had three more subsequent marriages.
Jean had a life filled with politics and dramatic turns on the stage. She helped create a cookbook for Junior Matrons in 1951 and served in various roles in that organization over the years. She was active in the Republican Party and served as the president of the California Republican Assembly multiple times. She was delegate to two Republican National Conventions. She was appointed by Governor Duekmejean as the director of Consumer Affairs in 1983.
Jean was the Soroptimist Woman of the Year in 1975 and the San Carlos Citizen of the year in 1976. She was the coordinator of the San Mateo County Heritage Fair in 1976.
She was an active member of her community in San Carlos and Redwood City and San Mateo County in a number of charities including those Historical societies.
Her two daughters had two children of their own. And her four grandchildren created more than a dozen more great grandchildren. She loved taking them all on excursions-her favorite always being Half Moon Bay for a picnic.
She loved her political badge collection and doll collection and her colorful Christmas collections. Most of all, she loved her hat collection and she wore a hat most everyday of her life. She was a commentator for many local fashion shows and had a speech, she gave about her hats, which she delivered to many clubs and organizations.
She lived in the White Oaks district of San Carlos most of her adult life. For the last five years, she resided in Silverado in Belmont where the staff took loving care of her, including her more than year long, hospice care.
Her daughter, Linda Cox, preceded her in death in 2011. Linda's children, Pat Pope and Michael Pope survive her.
She is also survived by her daughter, Teri Orr and her children, Jenny Knaak and Randall Polson.
A private family service will be held on Aug 9th, 2013. Jean loved her whisky straight. Feel free to toast her long life! Please sign the guestbook at
