John Gorman Obituary

John C. Gorman

Resident of Los Altos Hills

April 14, 1954-Oct. 14, 2010

John passed away peacefully at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. John graduated from Stanford Law School in 1979. He was a founding partner at the law firm of Gorman and Miller, and was one of the nation's top civil litigators.

A tenacious advocate, John obtained numerous multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts for his clients as well as more than twenty published appellate decisions, including a recent decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals expanding the rights of consumers against credit card companies. He was recognized in 2008 and 2009 by Thomson Reuters as a Northern California "Super Lawyer". Notwithstanding his distinguished career, John was ever humble. He was always available to and supportive of his family and friends.

John was a loving husband to Jennifer and a proud father of daughter, Lila. He also is survived by two sisters, Peggy (Matt) O'Connell and Mary (John Leo) Gorman. He was a beloved uncle to five nieces and seven nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 13th at St. Nicholas Church, 473 Lincoln Ave., Los Altos at 11:00a.m. A wake/reception will follow immediately.

I was saddened to read the news that John had passed. I am a banker and had the pleasure of helping John over the years with his banking needs. May his soul stay peaceful and his family cherish his smiles.
