John K. Lopez

Resident of Mountain View

Passed on April 13, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Lopez was born February 4, 1934 in East Chicago, Indiana.

Mr. Lopez was a former Marine, serving with honor in the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of the University of Chicago and devoted his professional life to the advocacy of Veterans and their families. Mr. Lopez was the Chairman of the Association for Service Disabled Veterans, a Founding Member of VET-Force, NaVOBA's Director of Policy, and known to many as the "Father of the Veterans Small Business Movement in America."

Mr. Lopez is survived by his devoted wife, Lucile Carole Lopez, his adoring children John, Judith, Jamie, James, Julia, Jessica, their spouses, and seven grandchildren. His beloved daughter, Jennifer, preceded him in death.

Mr. Lopez will be remembered in a memorial service on May 19, 2012 at 2:00pm, at Christ Episcopal Church, 1040 Border Road, Los Altos, California. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the "John K. Lopez Service Disabled Veteran Fund, P.O. Box 20312, Stanford, CA 94309." The fund will continue to support Mr. Lopez's mission of Service Disabled Veteran Entrepreneurship.
