Joe Ramona, 86, a native and lifelong resident of San Jose, died peacefully at home on Aug 17.
Joe was born July 11, 1931 to Italian Immigrant parents George and Marie Ramona. Joe was preceded in death by his only sibling, Ralph Ramona.
Joe was married 65 years to his high school sweetheart and love of his life Joanne Dudley who preceded him in death in 2016. Joe is survived by his four children Gregg (Val), Jeff (Doreen), Dave (Loree), Jodi (Michael), 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Joe was a standout Bay Area football player where he starred at Lincoln High School and Santa Clara University and then went on to play for the New York Giants where he started his rookie year. After his year with the Giants, Joe served two years as an officer in the United States Army and from there went on to be a successful business man.
Through the years he continued to be an avid bay area sports fan of the Forty Niners and San Francisco Giants.
Joe loved the many years of Sunday family dinners and summer vacations at their mountain home in Donner Lake. He also had a green thumb, growing beautiful vegetable gardens every summer in his backyard. Joe will be forever missed.
There will be a family graveside service.

Best neighbors ever, Joe and Joann... I had the privilege of keeping Joe's tomatoes watered when they would go on vacation. Culligan Blvd was a magical, wonderful place to grow up and the Ramona Family, they were a key family. Love to all of you, always in our hearts. -K
