Kaoru Matsueda Obituary



Kaoru "Kay" (Tsubokura) Matsueda

Resident of Sunnyvale

Kay was born on January 16, 1931 in San Mateo, CA to Katsuji and Yoshi Tsubokura. She was graduated from San Mateo High School, San Mateo Junior College and the Zweigman Medical Secretary School in San Francisco. She worked as a medical and legal secretary for over 40 years, including 8 years in Japan working for the U.S. Department of Defense and 10 years at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Santa Clara. She retired from Kaiser in 1995.

Kay was a gentle, loving and considerate person who was well liked by everyone with whom she came into contact. She enjoyed reading, traveling, sports, attending family gatherings, watching Korean DVD's and going to casinos.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years Kanow "Dick" Matsueda, daughter Mari Matsueda (Larry) St. Regis, step-grandsons Sean Tongson, Darren and Steven St. Regis, son Steven (Marlen) Matsueda, grandsons Logan and Ryan Matsueda, sister Tamaki (William "Pete") Peterson of San Francisco, brother-in-law Tsukasa (June) Matsueda of Palo Alto, CA, sister-in-law Yori (Yon) Kawakita of San Mateo, CA and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her sister Misao "Mimi" Yatabe of San Mateo, CA.

Friends and family are invited to her memorial at 12:00 noon, Monday, 1/17/11 at the Sturge Presbyterian Church, 25 S. Humboldt St., San Mateo, CA.

I was just thinking about Auntie Kay today and how she used to set the kitchen table with the cereal bowls and cereal so when we woke up we could feed ourselves. It was really nice staying at the house during the summer.
