Leon Accorne Obituary

Leon Edward Accorne

Long time resident

of San Jose

Feb. 3, 1920 - Dec. 5, 2010

Leon Accorne, went home to be the Lord on December 5, 2010. Born in Modesto, CA, Leon grew up in nearby Oakdale and graduated from Oakdale High School. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and married Evajean Brennan in 1942. In 1943 the young couple moved to San Jose and Leon enlisted in the Army.

Upon his discharge, he went to work for Fletcher Buick Motors. When family friends opened up Evergreen Dairy, they asked him to become a milkman and salesman. It was a job he enjoyed very much.

After a while a friend suggested that he go into real estate sales. He got his real estate license and, a short time later, opened Acorn Realty, serving the Willow Glen area for 20 years.

In 1987, his dear wife died from cancer. In 1988 he married Evelyn Detleffs Holtman and they were married for 14 years until alzheimers and pneumonia took her life.

In 2009 he moved to San Juan Capistrano in Orange County to be closer to family. Leon is survived by his daughter, Jean Ellen Brown, and his son-in-law, Bill Brown. He is also survived by his stepson, Gary Detleffs, and two grandsons, Rob and Peter Detleffs.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010, at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 11:00 am. Contributions can be made, in lieu of flowers, to Mount Hermon Association, P. O. Box 413, Mount Hermon, CA 95051.
