Lonnetta Kisselman Obituary

Lonnetta Joyce Kisselman

Resident of Sunnyvale

On October 26th, Lonnetta Kisselman passed away peacefully in her home in Sunnyvale. Born to Bill and Esther Kisselman of Windsor, Co., she is survived by her brother Ken, also of Windsor. Netta graduated from Colorado State College in 1968 with a BS in Elementary Education. She accepted a teaching position at Lomita Park Elementary School in Millbrae, Ca. that same year. During her 38 year career, Netta was recognized and respected as a distinguished Mentor Teacher by her peers, administrators and the families of children with whom she worked. Netta retired in 2007 and continued to volunteer at Lomita Park, teaching art and music. Netta will be remembered as a dear sister, loving "auntie" and generous friend. We will miss her quick wit, "crafty" gifts, dry sense of humor, passion for politics, faithfulness as a Bronco fan, and love of beautiful cars, art, music and games. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4th at 1pm at the First Congregational Church of San Jose located at Hamilton and Leigh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lonnetta Kisselman Art and Music Fund make checks payable to Lomita Park School PTA or the American Heart Association.

Miss Kisselman was the sweetest and best teacher I had in my whole entire life even throughout college. I cried a lot when I heard she passed. Her passion for mentorship and care was RARE. I´ll never forget my second grade teacher, Miss Kisselman.

Ms Kisselman was my second grade teacher and she came to mind today as my toddler worked on spelling his name. I am 40 now and still so grateful she pushed me to work on my spelling. Sorry to hear of her passing she lives on in our appreciation and memories.
