Malfrid Alexander Obituary

(Anny) Malfrid Alexander

Resident of San Jose

Born Oct. 9, 1921 in Askim, Norway to Arthur and Olava Vehn, Malfrid died on Oct. 31, 2010 at Crescent Villa Assisted Living in Sunnyvale.

Malfrid spent most of her childhood in Haltdalen and Hølonda, Norway where she completed her schooling. She eventually moved to Trondheim where she spent several years working as a bookkeeper before coming to the United States in 1952.

She met her loving husband, Robert Alexander, in 1956 and married him in San Francisco on Dec. 28, 1957. They had a son, Roald Robert, and daughter, Anne Solveig, whom they raised in San Jose at the same residence where they spent most of their 52 years together before his death early this year.

Malfrid was a beloved community member and very active in the PTA and Home-and-School Club supporting children's education. She was also a long-term member of the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of Nordmanns-Forbundet, a club for the Norwegian community, and had many friends in the Sons of Norway club.

Malfrid is preceded in death by her brother, John Vehn. She is survived by her son, Roald Robert Alexander, daughter Anne Solveig Alexander, and son-in-law Eric Rauch.

Friends are invited to funeral services to be held Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1pm, at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Chapel of Roses, 300 Curtner Ave., SJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1060 La Avenida St., Mt. View, CA 94043 or Nike Animal Rescue Fund, P.O. Box 26587, SJ, CA 95159.
